Today was a proud moment for Telecom Fijiana rover Raijeli Daveua as she won the Rookie of the Year Award at the 2016/2017 Women’s World Sevens Series.
Daveua has inspired a lot of young girls around the country as she switched from playing netball for the Fiji Pearls to discovering her potential on becoming a rugby player.
Daveua made her international debut at last year’s Rio Olympics.
The former Pearls goalkeeper who hails from Wayalevu in Yasawa has played 28 matches for the Fijiana, scored 11 tries and earned 55 points this season.
Meanwhile, the Fijiana has finished fourth in the overall points table with 66 points behind Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
