Crusaders fullback Israel Dagg will have to wait at least another week before returning to Super Rugby.
The 28‑year‑old will not play against the Chiefs this Friday, despite getting through half a game for Christchurch club University last weekend.
It was his first game since he injured his right‑knee against the Reds in Brisbane on March 11, a blow which required minor knee surgery.
Dagg arrived with the unbeaten Crusaders to Suva yesterday, but a team spokesperson confirmed he was not part of the 25‑strong touring group and would instead help with promotional activities during the week.
Another week off for Dagg means he will have just two Super Rugby games against the Rebels in Melbourne and the Highlanders in Christchurch to show All Blacks coach Steve Hansen he’s primed for the three‑test series against the British and Irish Lions in June and July.
The Crusaders will be naming their team today with few changes expected in the backs ahead of their match with the Chiefs.
The Chiefs will host the Crusaders at 7.35pm Friday at the ANZ Stadium.
