The Crusaders have never beaten the Chiefs in the playoffs of Super Rugby.
This will be the third finals meeting between the two teams after they met in the semifinals of both 2012 and 2013 with the Chiefs earning wins in both occasions.
However, the Crusaders have never lost a finals fixture when playing as the home team.
Before the two announce their teams today, all‑New Zealand semi‑finals in Super Rugby history have been won by the home side.
The Crusaders average the most time in possession of any team so far this season, while the Chiefs average the least.
The same Crusaders side that beat the Highlanders in the Super Rugby quarter final last weekend will attempt to do the same with the Chiefs in Saturday night's semifinal clash.
The Crusaders will host the Chiefs at 7.35pm Saturday while the Lions will host the Hurricanes at 12.30am Sunday.
