All Blacks Kieran Read and Ryan Crotty may recover from injuries in time for the Crusaders quarterfinal against the Sharks this Saturday.
Read suffered an injury in the wrist/thumb area during the 54‑17 win over the Blues over the weekend and was replaced at halftime while Crotty also left the field, in the 52nd minute, with a sore thumb.
The Crusaders said in a statement that Read has been cleared of any significant injury and he will be monitored early in the week as he reintegrates to training.
Crotty was removed from the field as a precaution, and a medical check‑up yesterday revealed the injury was not serious.
The Crusaders are also expected to soup‑up their tight five by bringing back All Blacks Codie Taylor, Owen Franks and Scott Barrett.
In this week’s Super Rugby quarter finals, the Hurricanes take on the Chiefs at 7.35pm Friday, defending champions, Crusaders will meet the Sharks at 7.35pm Saturday, the Waratahs the only Australian team in the Super Rugby finals face the Highlanders at 10.05pm Saturday, while the Lions meet the Jaguares at 1.05am Sunday
