The Queensland Maroons medical staff are fairly confident that Cooper Cronk has a chance of playing in the first State of Origin against New South Wales.
Maroons captain Cameron Smith says he has not seen injured teammate Cooper Cronk in three days as the playmaker does everything he can to recover for Origin One.
Cronk is racing the clock to prove his fitness for the series opener after he injured his ankle at a training session last Friday.
The star halfback will be given until the last minute to recover, and Smith says he knows Cronk is doing everything he can to reduce the swelling around his foot.
The State of Origin Game One will take place at 10pm this Wednesday.
