When the Vodafone Fiji 7s team assembled to sing the national anthem at the Dubai 7s final last week, commentators described Setareki Bituniyata’s tears as what makes the sevens game so unique.
Bituniyata says that moment was a good reminder of his humble upbringing and dedicated his achievement to his late parents.
The 21-year-old from Toga village in Nadroga played a grand tournament last weekend and is aiming to go up another notch at this weekend’s Cape Town 7s.
Bituniyata played all six games in Dubai and has already scored three tries on his debut.
Fiji will play Japan at 11.05pm Saturday, they will then play Kenya at 2.26am Sunday and Fiji’s final pool match is against France at 6.12am Sunday.
The Cup quarterfinals will begin at 11.04pm Sunday, the semifinals will start at 3.34am Monday and the final will be played at 6.44am Monday.
