Fiji’s top weightlifter Eileen Cikamatana was named the best Young Female athlete at the Pacific Mini Games.
Cikamatana won three gold medals in her weight category and also set new Commonwealth and Oceania records in weightlifting.
14-year-old Clement Mainguy of Vanuatu who took part in the Tennis competition and helped his team win gold was named the Young Male Athlete at the games.
Vanuatu’s Table Tennis player Yoshua Shing and Solomon Islands Sharon Firisua who took part in Athletics won the Best Male and Female Athlete awards at the game.
Shing won four gold medals while Firisua won three gold medals.
Team Fiji finished third with 23 gold, 27 silver and 23 bronze.
Looking at the overall Pacific Mini Games Medal Tally, New Caledonia finished first with 47 gold, 15 silver and 18 bronze while Papua New Guinea finished second with 33 gold, 30 silver and 22 bronze.
