With competition leaders the Chiefs scheduled for a bye this weekend the unbeaten Crusaders could launch to the head of the field if they can secure a bonus‑point win over the Force in Christchurch this Friday.

Although placed fifth under Sanzaar's conference system, the Crusaders have the second‑most points (16), three points behind the Chiefs.

What gives this story its guts is the fact Crusaders coach Scott Robertson still has a file bulging with the names of injured players, and for the last three weekends has had to fret while his side trailed by big margins before launching spectacular comebacks.

The Crusaders will take on Western Force at 6.35pm Friday.
