Hurricanes captain Dane Coles is after an improvement from his side going into the opening round of Super Rugby later this week, with his side travelling to Japan.
With the 2017 season drawing nearer, Coles has assured fans that his side is ready for a good start to what will be an important season.
Coles says the boys are in a pretty good space and it's probably the fittest he has seen the team coming back, but that doesn't mean anything.
He joked that they were fat and slow last season and managed to do something.
The defending champions begin their season at 4.15pm this Saturday against the Sunwolves in Tokyo.
The Highlanders will take on the Chiefs at 6.35pm this Friday while the Reds will take on Sharks at 9pm. The Crusaders will play will take on the Brumbies at 6.35pm Saturday.
The Rebels will host the Blues in the first match at 8.45pm Thursday.
