Melbourne Rebels star recruit Marika Koroibete is in a race against the clock to be fit for Round one of the Super Rugby next week.
The Fijian flyer will not play any pre-season matches due to a knee ligament injury suffered at training, hampering his transition into the code after five years of NRL for the Wests Tigers and Melbourne Storm.
The Rebels will look to incorporate a more expansive game style this season in an attempt to properly utilise Koroibete's powerhouse style of play, in tandem with Sefa Naivalu.
Meanwhile Eto Nabuli and Chris Kuridrani scored a try each for the Reds last night as they beat the Rebels 32-13.
Naivalu also scored a try for the Rebels last night.
The Rebels will take on the Blues in the Super Rugby opener at 8.45pm next Thursday.
