Former Vodafone Fiji 7s captain, Setefano Cakau and France‑based speedster Alipate Ratini are amongst some of the former national sevens stars who will be running out with an aim to impress National 7's coach, Ben Ryan this weekend at the Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens.
The CK's Ezybuy Tabadamu Blues Sevens team looks good to top their pool and win their first ever Fiji Bitter Marist 7s title.
Bolstering the side will be star players led by Cakau, Ratini, rugged hooker Apisai Naqaliva, Sitiveni Waqa, Jone Vota, Leo Naikasau, Nasoni Roko, Maleli Bula, David Batiratu and veteran winger Mosese Luveitasau.
Ryan said he will select players based on performance and not reputation.
Meanwhile defending champion Wardens Gold is aiming to win their seventh Marist 7's title.
Wardens won their first Marist 7s title in 1991 when they defeated Saunaka 14-4 in the final.
The Wardens also won the Marist title in 1995, 2002, 2008, 2010 and last year.
The Fiji Bitter Marist 7s kicks off tomorrow at the ANZ Stadium with the first game to be played between defending champion Wardens Gold and Fire at 8am.
The main cup winner will be walking away with $10,000.
