South Sydney star Sam Burgess has spoken for the first time since he was linked to the sexting scandal that’s engulfed the Rabbitohs, saying he’s “happy for the truth to come out” and he expects a resolution within the next 24‑48 hours.
It’s alleged that two unidentified Rabbitohs players exposed themselves to a 23‑year‑old woman via Burgess’ social media account after a game against the Warriors in May.
A tired‑looking Burgess fronted the media, describing the impact the saga has had on those around him adding that he is not going to put himself in a position that will get him in any trouble.
Burgess says that there’s an NRL investigation going on at the moment, and he is happy to get to the truth.
Meanwhile a lot is at stake when the NRL Preliminary finals kick off this weekend.
The Rabbitohs will play the Roosters at 9.40pm Saturday in the second NRL Preliminary Final while the Storm will play the Sharks at 9.40pm Friday in the first Preliminary Final.
