The South Africa Sevens team is determined to deliver a much improved performance to win their second Japan 7s title this weekend.
After two successive World Series tournament wins in Dubai and Port Elizabeth, the series leaders are now under a direct threat from Fiji and New Zealand.
Coach Neil Powell said they have made some tactical adjustments and it is important for his team to work together this weekend.
He said the Japan 7s will be tough, but his players are up for it and they will give it their best shot.
Captain Kyle Brown said he and his team mates are motivated to do well in Japan.
Brown said as a team they did not perform as well as they wanted to in Hong Kong but they know their potential, and want to compete for the title.
South Africa last won the Japan 7s in 2013 and lost 33-26 to Fiji in last year’s final.
They will face USA, Canada and Kenya in Pool C.
Fiji will play Wales in its first pool match at 1pm Saturday.
We then take on Hong Kong at 4.18pm Saturday and the final pool match is against England at 8.30pm Saturday.
The Cup quarterfinals start at 2.20pm Sunday, the Cup semis kick off at 6.22pm Sunday while the Japan 7s Cup final starts at 9pm Sunday.
