Outgoing Crusaders head coach Todd Blackadder has been linked to the vacant Reds Super Rugby coaching job.
The Reds sacked Richard Graham early into the season and have made do for the time being with co‑coaches Matt O’Connor and Nick Stiles.
Forty‑four‑year‑old Blackadder is understood to be one of seven final contenders for the coaching job in Queensland and according to the The Courier‑Mail he was interviewed for the job earlier this week.
Meanwhile, the Gallagher Chiefs defeated the BNZ Crusaders 23‑13 in a brutal battle in wet conditions at the ANZ Stadium in Suva last night.
The Chiefs now go to the top of the New Zealand Conference with 46 points while the Crusaders have 45.
If the Hurricanes win tomorrow they will have 44 points, should the Highlanders win with a bonus point then they will have 43 points.
The Chiefs finish with the Reds and the Highlanders away games while the Crusaders will have the Rebels and Hurricanes at Christchurch.
