Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy says Billy Slater is the best fullback he's seen play NRL and that he has changed the position for the next generation of players.
Slater will join the elite 300 NRL game club against the Wests Tigers this Saturday after missing the Storm's opening round win due to a injured shoulder.
Slater started his career at Storm back in 2003 under Bellamy when he arrived during the pre‑season to trial for a contract.
He said it was the 34‑year‑old's ability to read the game, his passing prowess and the way he ran through the middle set him apart.
The Melbourne Storm will take on the West Tigers at 8.35pm Saturday.
In other NRL matches this week, the Sharks will take on the Dragons at 9.05pm tomorrow, the Roosters will play the Bulldogs at 7pm Friday while the Broncos will take on the Cowboys at 9.05pm.
The Warriors will take on the Titans at 4:05pm Saturday while the Panthers will play the Rabbitohs at 6.30pm.
The Sea Eagles will take on the Eels at 5.10pm Sunday while the Raiders will take on the Knights at 7.30pm.
