Gospel High School sprinter and national rep Younis Bese is hoping to improve her 100 metres time before she competes in the Pacific Games.
Bese who will be travelling to Australia for the Oceania Championships next month hopes to improve her time from 12.16 seconds to under 12 seconds.
The 18 year old from Vanuabalavu, Lau equalled the senior girls 100 metres record of 12.16 seconds in the Coca Cola Games and will be taking part in the 100, 200 and 4x100 metres relay events in the Pacific Games.
Bese believes that this will be real competition after seeing Papua New Guinea’s Toea Wisil’s 100 metres time of 11.40 seconds and Mae Koime’s time of 11.68 seconds.
Meanwhile BSP today gave $5,000 sponsorship to Athletics Fiji to assist in their preparations for the Pacific Games.
Athletics Fiji President Joe Rodan says the sponsorship has boosted the preparations.
The Pacific Games will be held from July 4th to 18th in Papua New Guinea.
