Ben Smith set to return to Highlanders before game against Waratahs

The Highlanders have received a massive boost before their must‑win game against the Waratahs with news that All Blacks fullback Ben Smith is set to return from a hamstring injury.

The Highlanders need to chase a bonus‑point win and hope that other results go their way to squeeze into a finals berth and Smith trained today to put his hand up for the encounter.

Smith has not played since the 31‑31 draw with the Chiefs in round 12 and the Highlanders have only won once in his absence.

The Highlanders play the Waratahs at 7.35pm Friday.
