With the year coming to an end, Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan looks back at 2014 and ahead to the all important 2015.
In his message from London, Ryan said that it was a great year for the national side after winning the Oceania and Gold Coast 7s.
After losing out at Dubai and South Africa 7s, Ryan was not overly satisfied with the preseason build up which was not long enough where he continued to lose players abroad.
He admitted that it was the first time ever his side has lost to Mike Friday’s coached side where he gave him a stronger handshake after the game against USA.
Ryan said no one in Fiji can expect success to be given and that is underlined by only a single World Series title coming our way in the history of the game.
He added that what they are building now is a stronger base to launch a sustained and consistent attack on world sevens every tournament.
Ryan reminded everyone that it is not about being any less passionate about the national sport, but perspective is key for Fiji’s development and ultimate success.
He said they are all working hard and as smart as they can to hit those high points and thank the amazing support of the boys and management.
