Baby Pearls captain Episake Kahatoka will be featuring for Nasinu Open Grade in the Digicel Punjas Netball Championship today.
The 21-year-old Kahatoka along with Alisi Naqiri are the only two Fiji reps who will be playing for Nasinu while the other national reps will be playing for Suva, Nadi and Lautoka.
Kahatoka who was the lone Nadroga player to make it to the national team was motivated by her mother who has played with former Silver Ferns and Nadroga player Vilimaina Davu.
With the Baby Pearls having finished 4th in the last World Championship, Kahatoka is excited to see how Netball development will unfold in Fiji in the years to come.
Meanwhile last night, Fiji Netball and Netball New Zealand launched their partnership for the development of netball in Fiji and the pacific.
These include the basics of coaching for teachers and volunteers new to coaching which requires an Oceania Netball Federation Accreditation Coaching Programme.
The other outcomes include the delivery of netball kits, including balls and training equipment.
The programme will start this December and has three stages.
Today, former Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu and Fiji Pearls coach Vicky Wilson will be at the championship at the Netball Centre in Laucala Bay which kicks off this morning.
