Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Coach Gareth Baber says he is working with captain Jerry Tuwai in building his character as a motivational and courageous leader on and off the field.
Tuwai is usually known for being a shy and quiet player since joining the national side in 2014 but was handed the captaincy role after former captain Osea Kolinisau signed a contract to play in the United States.
Baber says it takes time to develop a great leader and is happy that Tuwai has been developing his confidence to lead the national side at the World Sevens Series.
Baber adds that they have some programs to guide Tuwai.
Baber adds that Tuwai has been getting a lot of support from senior players in the team.
Baber will be announcing his final team this week.
Meanwhile Fiji is pooled with New Zealand, Samoa and Russia at the Sydney 7s which will be held from the 26th to the 28th of this month.
