Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s coach Gareth Baber has praised playmaker Amenoni Nasilasila for his improved performance in the World Sevens Series.
Nasilasila has been outstanding for the national side putting him as one of the contenders for the DHL Impact Player of the Year Award.
He is the eldest son of former Fiji 7s halfback Sirilo Lala, a well known Fiji 7s halfback who is known for his skills and abilities to spot gaps during his playing days.
Coach Gareth Baber says they still have some areas to work on after their win in Singapore.
Nasilasila’s club coach Etika Tovilevu shared that the 25 year old has always been following the Ratu Filise 7s team since he was a child.
Tovilevu says Nasilasila has some similar attributes to Sirilo Lala but the he has more to offer.
Nasilasila hails from Namatakula village in Nadroga and is related to Tevita Kuridrani, Nemani Nadolo, Chris Kuridrani, Lote Tuqiri, the Tani family and the Tovilevu family which are all well known rugby families.
His father Sirilo Lala had represented the Fiji 7s team in 1998 and played at the Hong Kong, Commonwealth Games in Malaysia and Dubai 7s. He continued playing for the Fiji 7s in 1999 and 2000.
Meanwhile Baber has confirmed that there is no changes to his squad from Singapore and Hong Kong.
16 players are currently in camp with Kalione Nasoko down with flu and Sevuloni Mocenacagi continuing with his recovery.
The national side is preparing for the London 7s which will be held from the 2nd to the 4th of June.
They are pooled with New Zealand, Scotland and Argentina.
