Athletics Fiji is targeting to win 14 gold medals at the Pacific Games.
Fiji Athletes President Joe Rodan said the Fiji Games results today have been very impressive.
Rodan said next week is the Fiji Easter Championship where they will have their final trial for the upcoming Pacific Games.
He said that they are looking to take 25 athletes and 10 officials to PNG.
The three top athletes, Banuve Tabakaucoro, Sisilia Seavula and Leslie Copeland are currently in Australia preparing for the Australian Championship.
Milika Tuivanuavou and Eugene Vollmer will be going to the US to prepare for the Pacific Games.
Roden said that Pacific Queen Makelesi Bulikiobo will make her come back in the 400m.
Bulikiobo said that she is expecting a tough challenge from PNG’s sprinter, Toea Wisil.
Meanwhile, Rotuma is leading the Fiji Games medal tally with 12 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze, Suva is in second place with 3 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze and Nadi is in third place with 2 gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze.
The Fiji Games will continue tomorrow.
The Pacific Games will be held from the 4th to the 18th of July.
