World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has revealed he has been randomly tested 12 times ahead of the defence of his three titles against Russian drugs cheat Alexander Povetkin. It is an average of one test a week.
Joshua, who defends his belts at Wembley Stadium this Sunday, pledged that he would never indulge in performance‑enhancing drugs.
He has been tested so many times he now knows the testers from the Voluntary Anti‑Doping Association and UK Anti‑Doping.
Joshua explained that he had no grudge against Povetkin, who has twice been tested positive for performance‑enhancing substances.
Meanwhile, Joshua also took a sideswipe at British rival Tyson Fury, the former world champion, and the current World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, who are expected to meet in December in Las Vegas.
The fight program leading up to the bout between Anthony Joshua and Alexander Povetkin will begin at 4am Sunday at Wembley Stadium, London.
