Vodafone Fiji 7s pool opponents at the Wellington 7s, South Africa have suffered a major injury blow as star playmaker Cecil Afrika has been ruled out due to a knee injury.
He suffered the knee injury in training and has been ruled out of the second leg of the Sevens Series.
The Blitzbokke will also be without key forward Kyle Brown for the season after he tore knee ligaments during the last tournament at Cape Town.
Meanwhile, the Fiji 7s team for the Wellington 7s is expected to be named tomorrow.
Fiji will play Australia in their first pool match at 10.46am next Saturday before facing Japan at 2.10pm while Fiji’s last pool match will be against South Africa at 6.18pm next Saturday.
The medal quarterfinals will begin at 11.38am next Sunday while the semifinals will begin at 4.16pm.
The medal final will be held at 7.30pm next Sunday.
