The International Weightlifting Federation has applauded Weightlifting Fiji in their preparedness to host the Junior World Weightlifting Championship in June this year.
They have confirmed today that so far entries of 64 countries to participate has been received with the final number of athletes to be confirmed by late April.
The International Weightlifting Federation says that with the current figure, the Championship is expected to be the largest ever held.
Two of their officials were in Suva over the last three days to inspect the venues, transportation and accommodation and have revealed that they are satisfied with what Fiji will offer to the Championship.
Meanwhile, Weightlifting Fiji President Atma Maharaj confirmed that all equipment that will be used for the Championship has arrived into the country from China and is awaiting clearance.
Maharaj also says they will have another trial this weekend for Team Fiji.
The International Weightlifting Federation Junior Weightlifting Championships will be held at the FMF Gymnasium from the 1st to 8th of June.
