Five records has been broken so far at the Fiji National Schools Swimming Championship.
Tom Landrey of International School Suva broke Louis Morrell’s record in the Age 11 50 metres backstroke.
Landrey’s time is 38.27 seconds while the old record was 44.59 seconds which was set in 2013.
Looking at the other records, James Kado of Marist Brothers High School broke the 400 metres freestyle in the Age 13 category.
The old record was set my Kalen Eyre of Marist with the time of 5 minutes 32.38 seconds while the new record by Kado is 4 minutes 51.07 seconds.
Looking at the current medal tally, Marist is leading the Boys Division with 8 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze.
Natabua High School is in second place with 6 gold and 1 bronze while Swami Vivekananda College is in third place with 4 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze.
In the girls division, Swami Vivekananda College is leading with 10 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze and Yat Sen Secondary is second with 4 gold and 1 bronze.
The Day 1 competition will end in the next hour at the Damodar Aquatic Centre.
