There are just 32 horses remaining in contention for a start in Australia’s biggest race, the $6.2 million Emirates Melbourne Cup.
This after the second round of acceptances was closed yesterday.
The likes of Preferment, The United States and last year’s Victoria Derby winner Tarzino have not been accepted.
Four‑time Melbourne Cup winning owner Lloyd Williams has four horses still in the running.
They are Bondi Beach and Almandin, Assign and Gallante.
Final acceptances for the Emirates Melbourne Cup will be taken on Saturday.
The 2016 Melbourne Cup race will be held next Tuesday.
