Two Vodafone Fiji U23 players have been given a 3-year suspension after they tested positive for drug use.
In a statement, Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Yusuf says that Rewa’s Martin Nasova and Ba’s Kini Madigi have been suspended for three years from all levels of football related activities with immediate effect and fined $500 each.
Yusuf says they were found positive of drug use during the drug test while in camp for the U23 trials.
He says it is really disappointing that some players are not taking things seriously and have to face the consequences.
Yusuf says for Nasova and Madigi, it was their final chance and despite knowing they were found positive for the use of prohibited substance which is not permitted in football despite being given a second chance to improve themselves.
Yusuf also confirmed that Nasinu’s Sekove Naikavakananumi would be given another chance to prove himself.
He says Naikavakananumi will be given 30 days to do another drug test and test negative and he will be given the opportunity to continue his playing career and till then his is suspended from playing from all level of football.
