The Australian National Rugby Championship takes an interesting twist from this week, and it’s going to be the depth of playing squads that determines which team holds up the NRC Trophy on November 11th without their star players.
From this week, players will re‑join the Wallabies squad for the third Bledisloe Cup match and the fixture against the Barbarians in Sydney the following week.
After that, the Wallabies head to Japan to play the Brave Blossoms on November 4th, before they head to the United Kingdom on the end of the year tour.
This was a worry for the Fiji Airways Drua as they will be without six key players for the Flying Fijians tour next month.
Joeli Veitayaki, Mosese Ducivaki, Ratunaisa Navuma, Mosese Voka, Frank Lomani and Alivereti Veitokani have joined the Flying Fijians and has allowed coach Senirusi Seruvakula to work out new combinations.
The Flying Fijians first end of season fixture against Italy will clash with the NRC final so the question is not who looks the strongest now, but who looks the strongest in a fortnight’s time.
The Drua will be camping again tomorrow ahead of their crucial clash against Queensland Country at 2pm Saturday at Churchill Park in Lautoka and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Viti FM 92.2FM.
