All eyes will be on young talent today when the Uprising Youth Sevens competition opens the Mana Whey Fiji Coral Coast 7s tournament in ‘Rugbytown’ Sigatoka.
Under‑19 teams from all over Fiji are registered for the two‑day competition.
Lelean Memorial School return as the defending champions, keen to show that the 2016 result was not a one‑off, and will take on Waisiliva in the first game of the day at 10am.
The winning team will collect prizemoney of $7,500 and the Player of the Tournament will be awarded the Lote Tuqiri Medal which will be presented by the former Wallaby himself.
George Gregan and former New Zealand Sevens captain and rugby commentator Karl Te Nana are also Ambassadors for the tournament.
The Uprising Youth 7s will be followed by the Women’s competition tomorrow and Friday while the Men’s pool matches will start on Friday and the finals will be held on Saturday at Lawaqa Park.
