The Queen's Baton for the 2018 Commonwealth Games continues to make its way around Fiji.
The Baton arrived in the country earlier this week as Minister for Youth and Sports, Laisenia Tuitubou led the welcoming ceremony. It also went to Asco Motors in Nabua late yesterday.
The Queen's baton returned to Fiji after a lapse of 12 years. The last time it was here was in early 2006 on it’s way Melbourne.
The baton carries a message from the Head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth II and was launched at Buckingham Palace in England on March 13.
At the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games the final relay runner will hand the baton back to the Queen or her representative, who will read the message to open the event.
FASANOC president Joe Rodan Snr says that it has been a long time since the Baton has returned to Fiji.
It will be travelling for 388 days throughout Commonwealth nations and territories before the Commonwealth Games begins in Australia on April 4th next year.
