Fijian boxer Winston Hill is assured of a Commonwealth Games medal after winning his quarter final clash against Scottish boxer Stephen Newns.

The 24-year-old will take on Northern Ireland's Aidan Walsh on Friday for a place in the gold medal match.

Hill says that he has only been in boxing for four years.

Hill adds that he is looking forward to bringing home a gold medal to Fiji.

Fiji currently has a gold and bronze in weightlifting, and will be hoping the Fiji Airways Men's National 7s team will win its first Commonwealth gold this weekend.

Meanwhile Fiji 7s captain Jerry Tuwai was down with a flu and was not training with the team yesterday.

Baber says they have settled in well and are continuing to work on their restarts and defence.

Winston Hill will be facing Aidan Walsh at 10.02pm tomorrow in the first semi.

Looking at the Fiji 7s games, we will play Sri Lanka at 1.21pm Saturday in their first game, we then meet Uganda at 7.53pm on Saturday in their second pool match before facing Wales at 11.33pm in their last pool game.

There will be no quarterfinals as the top four teams will go straight to the semifinals at 1.43pm Sunday and the Commonwealth 7s final will kick off at 5.04pm Sunday.
