Waratahs and Wallabies star back, Israel Folau reveals he offered to walk away from his Rugby Australia contract in the wake of his controversial comments on homosexuality and that tension remains with the game's administration over the issue.

The Wallabies fullback wrote a lengthy piece on sports website Players Voice on, addressing the fallout from his Instagram message and reiterating his deep religious convictions.

Folau says that in a meeting last week with Rugby Australia Chief Executive, Raelene Castle and Waratahs CEO Andrew Hore, he gave his bosses the option to sack him.

Folau, who is off contract at the end of this season, rubbished claims that the inflammatory social media comments was designed to ensure he got a release from Rugby Australia so he could move back to rugby league.

Meanwhile the Waratahs will meet the Lions at 9.45pm Friday while the Blues will face the Highlanders at 7.35pm.

On Saturday, the Crusaders take on the Sunwolves at 7.35pm, the Reds will take on the Chiefs at 9.45pm  while on Sunday the Bulls meet the Rebels at 1.05am, the Sharks face the Stormers at 3.15am, and the Brumbies will take on the Jaguares at 6.05pm.
