Many people who have never received i-Taukei land lease money are now receiving their share after the introduction of the equal distribution of lease money policy.
i-Taukei Land Trust Board General Manager Tevita Kuruvakadua revealed this to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Economic Affairs while presenting their submission together with the Ministry of i-Taukei Affairs on Opposition MP, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua’s petition to review the distribution of lease money to personal accounts.
Kururvakadua says the process was also made possible after TLTB started processing lease monies of over 300,000 individual landowner accounts instead of the 4,500 distribution units.
Kuruvakadua says individuals are now also receiving more than they used to get.
He says two women from the Province of Ba called the Board praising the new policy after receiving their lease money last month.
Kuruvakadua reveals the two women who were in their late sixties said this is the first time for them to receive their lease money.
