You are among the hardest working people in Fiji and the government supports you and stands with you now and always.
This was the assurance made by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama to the cane farmers at the public consultation with the Itaukei Land Trust Board and sugar industry stakeholders in Ba today.
Bainimarama says when it comes to the sugar industry, there was no question but it was in steady decline until the government intervened to place it on a better footing.
He says an example is the amount of cane needed to produce sugar that had been drastically reduced by making the process more efficient.
Bainimarama says he is willing to make life better for Fijians and ordinary people who deserve to know that when they work hard, that work will be rewarded and their families will benefit.
He says this includes the protections put in place to give every Fijian equal status and equal protection under the law and a chance to give the children access to even greater opportunities to improve their lives.
