Corrections Commissioner Colonel Iferemi Vasu said there are 1,520 inmates in various prison facilities around the country.
While speaking at the launch of the Yellow Ribbon Program for Nasinu at the Valelevu grounds this morning, Colonel Vasu added that these inmates are from the 14 provinces and Rotuma.
He told the members of the public that if they do not change their attitude towards ex-offenders, it will drive them to the cycle of crime.
Colonel Vasu said the Fiji Corrections Service can develop and conduct the best rehabilitation programs for offenders but unless the members of the public provide the right environment for them on their release, we will be condemning the ex-offenders to a permanent life of crime.
