A Year 12 student from a prominent secondary school in Suva will be charged with being found in possession of illicit drugs.
The student was taken into Police Custody on the 20th of last month after 1pm after he was found with dried leaves believed to be marijuana.
Police Chief of Investigations, Vakacegu Toduadua confirms that the matter was investigated by the Samabula Police Station.
He says the juvenile was in custody for 48 hours, as police were awaiting test results of the dried leaves that the suspect was found with.
Toduadua says the test results have come back and the student will be charged.
Fijivillage understands that students of the suspect’s school were counseled and informed of the pros and cons of such offences.
Toduadua says the Police Drugs Unit and the Sexual Assault Unit together with the Community Policing Division has been going out to various schools upon their invitation to do various awareness on the effects of illicit drugs, sexual assaults and other relating offences.
