Works are ongoing to declare Navua as Fiji’s 14th municipality after the recent completion of infrastructure upgrade.
This was highlighted by the Minister for Local Government, Parveen Kumar Bala as he officiated at the Mother’s Day Carnival in Navua yesterday evening.
Bala stated that the carnival provided the foundation for a municipal carnival, once Navua is declared a town.
He says it was important to provide the right infrastructure for Fiji’s newest town and this meant work on roads, pavements and on street lighting.
He adds that work on this has progressed well and the town declaration will lead to greater economic activity.
Bala says indicators such as land sales and intention of businesses and industry to open in Navua have been positive.
The Carnival which was organised by B Prasad & Sons Ltd director, Ashok Prasad will end today.
