Works at the Kasavu slip has not started.
FRA CEO John Hutchinson says a plan has been completed and is being submitted to the FRA Board for approval for works at the Kasavu slip.
Hutchinson says FRA anticipates to carry out this process and have Kings Road reopened by July or August this year.
He says a long term solution is also being developed and this will likely require a significant re‑alignment of the Kings Rd onto more stable ground.
Hutchinson says this will require detailed geo‑technical investigation, design and engineering before construction can even commence and will likely take several years before construction is complete.
He says works for both stages will be awarded to a contractor through the FRA tender process.
Meanwhile, FRA has also confirmed that works are currently underway to fix the sink hole at Kinoya Road on the Kaudamu Junction.
Hutchinson says water mains in the road has been impacting progress and the heavy downpour is affecting the contractors progress in carrying out proper bedding work.
