Work on the Stinson Parade Bridge is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2015.
Fiji Roads Authority Chief Executive Officer Neil Cook said there is a significant programme of bridge replacements that will get underway in 2015, with additional work going on to prepare designs for future years’ work.
Cook said the replacement of Denarau Bridge and Stinson Parade Bridge will be completed next year.
He added that people will also expect to see major work on a number of jetties from next year.
He said in the first quarter of 2015 the Authority will carry out work to ensure reliable and safe continued use of Nabouwalu, Natovi, Vunisea and Savusavu jetties - the most frequented of all our jetties.
He said in addition to these major works, repairs and maintenance are planned on a number of other jetties.
Cook also said they will also be preparing designs for a replacement of a number of outer island jetties.
Cook added that 2015 will also see the start of a three year program to replace all faulty streetlights in Fiji.
In addition a program of new streetlights will see at least 30 villages benefit from new streetlights.
