Civil and earth works have begun at the site for the new Laqere market which is expected to be completed by June next year.
Nasinu Town Council CEO Aktar Ali says they have tendered for the project scooping and design from reputable engineering firms and will decided shortly how best they can accommodate the modern market facility on site.
He says they will try hard to have the best and maximum use of the site to ensure the rate payers get the maximum benefit from this project.
200 market vendors from Nadera, Nepani, Nadawa and surrounding areas will benefit from this new market in Laqere, Nasinu.
Nasinu Town Council’s Manager Engineering Mosese Yavalanavanua had earlier said that the Ministry of Local Government has provided $1.2 million for this project which will include adequate facilities for women, a proper rest room, changing and feeding rooms especially for those who come from the interior of Viti Levu.
