Women in Business has joined all the women of Fiji in condemning the sexist and racist comments made by SODELPA MP Mosese Bulitavu against all Fijian Women.

In a statement they say Bulitavu first called Indo‑ Fijian women promiscuous and then he told iTaukei women that they are lucky that they do not get hit with knives.

They say both these statements are extremely damaging to women’s progress and therefore deplorable in the strongest terms.

They add such misogynistic statements on the day of their Awards celebrating women’s progress and success was very disturbing to all of them adding they reject him as he has no place in the Fiji of today where women should be equal to men in whatever occupation they choose.

The statement says they hope he is a lone voice in the wilderness, but are concerned that this may not be the case.

They say Fiji as a country should reject him and remove him from all processes of public life as they cannot allow the young people to hear from such men as we work hard to progress as a country with equal opportunity for all.
