Women Ministry to work closely with Faith Based Organisations

The Ministry of Women and Poverty Alleviation look to work closely with Faith Based Organisations in the new financial year to help in the economic empowerment of women, elimination of violence against women, child abuse and neglect and poverty alleviation.

This was highlighted by the Minister for Women Mereseini Vuniwaqa while officiating as a Guest Speaker at the Women in the Frontline Conference at the Balawa Apostles Church in Lautoka.

She also acknowledged the committee members for organizing the conference that is especially aimed at empowering the lives of women and girls in Fiji.

Vuniwaqa adds women on the Frontlines is committed to empower, equip and mobilize Christian women through conferences, training events, outreaches, missions projects and  women from a variety of streams receive encouragement, equipping and impartation.

The Minister for Women also stressed that with a rise in concerns of women and children, she encouraged the faith‑based organization and participants to educate their various groups and family members to eliminate social ills and discrimination against them.

About 200 women participated at the conference, from around Fiji.
