Northern Police are now looking into the case of a 62-year-old woman who was allegedly ill-treated and assaulted by a TLTB officer in the Northern division.
The 62-year-old woman raised the issue with Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama during his North visit yesterday.
She said she lodged a complaint with the police after a TLTB officer allegedly hit her when the officer went to give her the eviction notice.
She was staying on that piece of land for the past 28 years.
The woman alleges that she was pushed by the TLTB officer and when she fell down, he then hit her back.
Bainimarama called Divisional Police Commander North Shri Bhawan Singh about the case and the Prime Minister assured the woman that the matter will not be swept under the carpet.
Singh told Fijivillage their investigation should not take long before coming to a conclusion.
Singh said once the investigation is done, they will then deal with the TLTB officer.
Fijivillage has sent questions to TLTB regarding this issue and they are yet to comment.
