A 79-year-old woman was rushed to the hospital after she was hit by a 10-wheeler truck in Nadawa yesterday.
Police Spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri said the 27-year-old driver was travelling from Nepani to Nadera while the woman who was walking on the left side of the road was trying to cross to the other side.
The truck driver saw her and tried to avoid hitting her which resulted in the truck hitting a lamp post and tumbling at the Nadawa junction.
Sokomuri said in the process the truck hit the 79-year-old woman.
The truck driver is under observation at the CWM hospital.
Meanwhile, a 27-year-old driver who was involved in a road accident at Princes Road in Tamavua on Friday night is still in police custody.
The four people who were rushed to the hospital following the accident remain admitted.
It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle was allegedly drunk.
