The woman who is charged with the rape of her 3-year-old daughter has been granted bail by High Court Judge, Justice Daniel Goundar.
While on bail, a 24‑hour curfew will be imposed on the woman and she is to reside with her parents in Suva.
The woman’s lawyer Shelvin Singh told the court the accused herself took the child to the doctor in January this year after the child complained of stomach ache.
Singh told the court the case was then referred to the CWM hospital and was later handed to Social Welfare who reported the case to Police.
He said that the medical report that the state is relying on is inconclusive of any penetration.
He further said that while the accused’s husband was being interviewed by Police, he had taken the blame upon himself.
The victim in the case is currently being looked after at the Social Welfare Residence.
The child has another sister who is 1 and a half years of age and is residing with her paternal grandparents.
