Acting Prime Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and NFP Leader Professor Biman Prasad had heated exchange of words in parliament earlier today after Sayed-Khaiyum raised the question on why the NFP MPs are not saying anything when the SODELPA members are making comments that borders on bigotry.
Sayed-Khaiyum says people need to focus on a united Fiji.
Biman Prasad then said that this is misleading information.
However Sayed-Khaiyum said that this is a fact as the NFP members are not standing up and saying anything when SODELPA MPs are making those comments.
Meanwhile the Acting Prime Minister also said that those in SODELPA are using religion and ethnicity for their political supremacy.
Sayed-Khaiyum said that Jesus Christ did not say there should be discrimination on the basis of ethnicity.
He says that he believes in the equality of all human beings.
In his right of reply, Sayed-Khaiyum said that the racist agenda in the past hurt many people.
He highlighted horrific memories of what happened during the 2000 coup.
He says there is a real need to move away from this agenda.
