Fashion Week Ltd Managing Director Ellen Whippy‑Knight was overwhelmed with the outcome of our local three models who took part at the show.
18-year-old Mykaela Powell, Bulou Vuta Buatoka and Law student Remy Naqali walked in the Pacific Resort Collections Show.
Mykaela said she had learnt a lot from the experience and most of what she took home from the experience was that Fijian models are just as good as those on the international runway.
Knight said it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to showcase the Fijian physique and how diverse we are but it was also a learning curve that we just had to take advantage of.
Meanwhile, three of our local models and five designers and representatives of Fiji Fashion Week are safe at the Pacific Resort Show at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Australia after the ceiling of the building fell off before the show yesterday.
The show was delayed with 346 guests including 50 representatives of the world’s fashion media and fashion retailers had to be ushered into the VIP Lounge awaiting the new show time.
Fiji Fashion Week Publicist, Lice Movono Rova who is in Australia for the show said this happened moments before the show as FJFW Managing Director Ellen Whippy Knight was giving the models final instructions and the guests were waiting in line.
Rova said organisers have been very good with restating everything considering even though they were minutes away from starting when then technical difficulties set in.
