People living in the Western and Northern Division are now being told to prepare themselves as we may be heading into a drought in the next few months.
Director of the National Disaster Management Office, Manasa Tagicakibau said the last major rainfall Fiji experienced was in May.
He said Fiji has not received expected rainfall for the last four months and many sources of water especially in the Western and Northern Division are drying up.
Tagicakibau said they have briefed all the agencies and stakeholders to prepare for a possibility of a drought.
Tagicakibau said the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development is now carting water in the rural and maritime areas of the Western and Northern Division where water sources have dried up.
