We can do more to help ourselves and not always rely on assistance if we learn to save money.
This was highlighted by the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs Naipote Katonitabua while opening the Namosi Provincial Council Meeting.
Katonitabua says that his Ministry is very concerned about the huge number of people allegedly falsifying their information in order to receive the government “Homes Care Initiative”.
He says that this assistance is only for those whose properties were badly affected by Cyclone Josie and Keni.
Katonitabua encouraged members of the Namosi Provincial Council to encourage their people to buy shares in Fijian Holdings Limited, saying that only then they will learn how important it is to have a security that will not only help themselves but also their future generations.
He told members of the council that it is their responsibility to help in the protection of the available resources and that they are to come up with ideas that can help in eliminating risks that can be faced during natural disasters.
Katonitabua adds that the input from land and mineral resource owners is important as this determines how his officials will carry out their work.
